Hello! My name is Allison and I'm excited to work with you! I knew in 6th grade that I wanted to become a math teacher. I'm now 26 years into my career and am still loving that decision.
A bit about my background: I earned my BA in Mathematics from Wheaton College (IL) and my Master's in Education from American Pathways University. I also completed 18 graduate credits in mathematics from Colorado State University. I taught high school math for 17 years, most of which were at an alternative high school for students who had dropped out or had been expelled. For many of these students, math had been a major obstacle in their previous academic experience. We focused on individual and small groups to personalize the instruction as much as possible. I then switched to the community college level, where I focus on first year courses (mostly College Algebra and Finite Math) and their related support lab groups. I have also been a tutor and coordinator of the college tutoring center, helping students from all levels of math.
In any of these environments, my passion is for students who have struggled in math and/or have anxiety about it. As long as you're willing to be open to working with me, I'm ready to meet you wherever you are in your math journey!
