Bio

I am a published research mathematician who loves to tutor math in my spare time! I have been tutoring math for most of my educational career, starting with my friends in high school and college, and then eventually transitioning to paid tutoring in my spare time as a math major during undergrad. I am a published research mathematician who loves to tutor math in my spare time! I have been tutoring math for most of my educational career, starting with my friends in high school and college, and then eventually transitioning to paid tutoring in my spare time as a math major during undergrad. After completing the comprehensive requirements as part of the PhD program at UIUC, I began tutoring students in more advanced, graduate level subjects, such as real and complex analysis, partial differential equations, linear/abstract algebra, and probability. As a graduate student, I have experience teaching all levels of calculus, linear algebra, and differential equations. If my teaching evaluations are anything to go by, my students have found me to be an excellent and inspiring instructor. That's something that I take great pride in.

I love math for its own sake, and I take special joy in helping others understand it. If you are struggling in your math course and feel lost, as long as you are willing to put in the work, It's never too late. I have brought many students back from the brink of failure with focused lessons. And as someone who has both taught and taken classes remotely, I know firsthand the struggles that come with remote instruction. Still, my tutoring is online-only. I can tell you from extensive experience that it works exceptionally well for focused, one-on-one math tutoring. I have a good camera/microphone setup, as well as a Wacom writing tablet. Not only can I draw figures and equations by hand on the online whiteboard, I can screen share plots and solutions generated by powerful software such as Mathematica.

I have many hours of experience working individually with students to help them grasp challenging topics, from business students struggling with the definition of the derivative, to math graduate students that can't quite grok the concept of a weak derivative among distributions.

I have taught calculus of all levels as a PhD student at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. I enjoy tutoring calculus because for many students, it is the first time that they will encounter math that they find is both challenging and genuinely interesting. Even if you struggled with earlier courses and just want to pass, I enjoy helping students fill in whatever gaps they might have so that they can really appreciate what calculus has to offer. I find the subject fascinating, and in fact my own PhD thesis research is on the stability of certain solutions to partial differential equations. I have taught linear algebra several times at UIUC as a PhD student, and I have tutored students in linear algebra of all levels, including graduate proof-based courses. Even though my graduate degree is in math, physics has always had a special place in my heart. I enjoy tutoring students in the subject as it reminds me when I was a young high school/college student taking my first physics courses, where I first learned to really appreciate math. Analysis is one of my favorite math subjects to teach/tutor for. In fact, my PhD thesis is in the field of analysis, focusing on the asymptotic and periodic stability of traveling wave solutions to nonlinear PDEs. Linear Algebra
