In 2019 I've graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Physics (UCCS), during which time I tutored the subject to college freshmen and worked as a lab TA. Currently I am in a PhD graduate program (UCCS) specializing in electromagnetism. In 2019 I've graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Physics (UCCS), during which time I tutored the subject to college freshmen and worked as a lab TA. Currently I am in a PhD graduate program (UCCS) specializing in electromagnetism. During my time in college, I've covered: Special Relativity, Thermodynamics, Classical Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism (and Circuits), Optics, Elementary Quantum Mechanics. On the side, I had to learn the MATLAB and Python languages, as well as basic programming principles including: logic, for/while loops, data structures/types, debugging etc. Please message me with details about the subject/questions you are learning, so that I can prepare ahead of time.
My Philosophy:
When teaching Physics, I like to draw the student towards real life examples of the principles or theorems. This helps develop “physical intuition”. My joy in understanding Physics comes from not just solving arbitrary math equations, but applying them to our world. My joy is further enhanced when I can share that understanding with others. As Richard Feynman said: “There are no miracle people.” Before college, I was not naturally talented at Mathematics, but instead I got there by meticulously, painstakingly navigating around all the walls and pit-falls that lay hidden.
A particular subject may look daunting to master; However, I believe that if we break subjects down into their components, learn step by step, and practice many example problems, our continual improvement will eventually win out. Often times the reasons for our misunderstandings come from not clearly defining our terms (semantics). I truly believe that if we clearly define our terms and we pace ourselves appropriately, then we all have the potential to reach our academic goals, whatever they may be. I'm here to help you get started with that.

Algebra 2

I have worked as a university level tutor for 3 years on subjects of Physics and undergraduate level math (algebra 2, geometry, statistics, vector calculus, differential equations). I have adapted an effective pedagogy of finding where the mistakes are made, or misunderstandings exist, and clarifying them.

explained Matlab code well

Code was well explained and how it would correspond to same code in Matlab. Really helpful for understanding and coming up with a plan

Helpful, Well Prepared, and Patient

My son has had two AP Physics tutoring sessions with Ryan. Ryan was well prepared and a patient instructor; helping my son understand the deeper concepts in addition to the complicated math required to complete the problems. Ryan responds quickly and is accommodating with his schedule. I also appreciate his feedback after each session. My son looks forward to his sessions with Ryan.

Great Tutor, challenging concepts broken down to understand

Had a great experience during our session for physics all boxes checked and examples made sense, hope to continue again soon!

Great and knowledgeable tutor!

Ryan made my lectures simple to follow and understand. Ryan was much clearer than my professor and took time to make sure I was keeping up. If you have a lecture or assignment Ryan will work on it ahead of your session so he knows what he is walking through.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

Ryan helped me with my AP Physics 2 homework. I have always struggled with AP Physics, but Ryan was able to answer any questions about the material I had. I much more knowledgeable about electric circuits after the session. Thank you!

Fiorina, 2 lessons with Ryan

Very patient.

Ryan made me feel very comfortable and I never felt judged. He was very knowledgeable in Statistics and barely even needed the graphing calculator for help! Thanks for being a great tutor.
