Hello! My name is Jessica. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Science degree from the University of North Texas, with a major in Educational Psychology and a minor in Psychology.

Following my undergraduate career, I was accepted into the graduate program at the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences at the University of Texas at Dallas.

As a tutor, areas of specialization include the following: Psychology, Early Childhood Development, Human Development & Family Studies, Cognition, Neuroscience, and all aspects of English (e.g., written expression, reading comprehension, proofreading, APA/MLA formatting, assistance with grammar and/or spelling, etc.). All subjects are taught between the High School to Graduate-Level.

I am flexible in terms of scheduling, particularly regarding online sessions, which are personally preferable and do not necessitate 24-hour advanced cancellation on the part of the student.

However, exceptions wherein we meet for tutoring in person can be discussed as needed or otherwise deemed necessary.

I enjoy tutoring and am highly accommodating of students’ unique learning styles and cognitive strengths, and mindful of remaining sensitive with respect to any individual student’s personal area of relative academic weakness.

I maintained a 4.0 GPA in all undergraduate psychology course work (18 advanced hours), and scored above the 90th percentile on the Psychology Subject GRE.

Subsequent to obtaining my undergraduate diploma, I worked as a neuropsychological technician for three years at a private neuropsychology clinic.

Thereafter, I was accepted into graduate school at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD). As a full-time graduate student at UTD’s School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences, (majoring in Psychological Sciences with coursework emphasis in Neuroscience and Cognition), I’ve thus far completed three semesters of doctoral-level coursework at full-time status.

During my time at UTD, I’ve also spent one and one-half years working a minimum

Career Development

For three years, I worked in the capacity of a vocational counselor, during which I’d counsel both children and adults regarding their educational and occupational areas of interests respectively, finding appropriate occupational matches per the client’s passions, skillset, and level of education/training required for a subsequent pursuit in this field. I’ve continued doing this with my tutoring clients to this day; once the vocational counseling has been completed and the assessments have all been administered, I systematically go through and discuss numerous occupations of varying levels of prerequisite training and discuss the job growth, future outlook, salary, etc directly from the US Dept of Labor (O*NET). I also provide a personalized PowerPoint with your career assessment results and study and/or work-place strategies to help accommodate for any areas of relative weakness, along with cognitive psychology-based recommendations to bring the client’s true abilities to fruition.
College Counseling

College Counseling

I have successfully counseled and/or assisted in a student’s admission to their program of choice on numerous occasions via tutoring specifically geared either toward undergraduate or graduate committees, as dependent on the student’s pursuits. Knowledgeable and Patient tutor

Jessica has helped me so much in learning the areas of the brain that are affected in the various neurocognitive disorders. I have gained so much confidence as a neuropsychological resident just within the short time of our working together. She is very knowledgeable about everything in the field of psychology, and she is very patient, even when I ask a unintelligible question. She always makes me feel comfortable with discussing my experiences.

Incredibly knowledgable and helpful tutor -- Jessica will work hard for you

I'm still in awe of the caliber of tutoring that I received from Jessica tonight. She promptly responded to me, which is always a must from tutors (a lot of times when we as students are contacting tutors, it's because we need help asap!). I needed help with my CV and within the same evening, Jessica came to me with so much invaluable information on why certain pieces of information are important and what to really emphasize -- she also brought much of her expert psychology background to the session (even though we weren't working on psychology material, psychology is very much behind every single important academic endeavor, especially behind the admissions process of grad/undergrad programs). She has been in the game for a long time and knows what's what. She is undeniably highly qualified, but more than that, she is incredibly hard-working. I still can't believe how much work she put into making sure I had the highest quality tutoring session imaginable. If you are looking for a tutor in any of Jessica's subjects of expertise, do not hesitate. Her 5-star rating is not for no reason -- she is an EXCELLENT tutor. (I forgot to mention that I'm a tutor as well and have undergone much training from my college district, and she ticks off every requirement).
