I have been learning from Svetlana for six weeks. So far, she has helped me with my vocabulary, reading comprehension, and knowledge of idiomatic and informal speech. She leverages engaging teaching methods such as radio listening, excerpts from stories, and conversations about current events to keep the language in context. She assigns personal homework between every session, and most sessions are spent briefly reviewing homework and then diving into conversation. She makes notes of my mistakes and the shortcomings of my Russian speech during our conversation, and then assigns homework to help me shore up those shortcomings through personal study. The pace of learning under Svetlana is very fast - stay on top of your homework and don't be afraid to reschedule a session if you need more time to do your work before meeting again. I recommend this tutor for intermediate students of the Russian language who are looking for a rigorous and fast-paced learning experience that will help them improve their Russian speaking, reading, writing, and command of informal/conversational modes of speech. Svetlana is a very effective tutor and I believe my Russian has materially improved since our first session.

I wanted to meet in person for the first time so that we could get introduced before stepping right into the first lesson. It was a lot to take in for my first day but I imagine it will all come together down the road. Looking forward to the next one!

Excellent tutor!
I have only recently begun tutoring with Svetlana, but she has already proven to be an amazing tutor.
