I do not have any formal tutoring experience to date; this is honestly my first go at it. Rather than rattle off all of my degrees, certifications, licenses, and the many exams I have taken over the years, I will simply list those at the end. The main focus of this process needs to remain with you, the student. My goal is to help you identify your goals, develop a plan to reach them, and encourage you to put in the work on your own time. A little more about my education and career journey… I graduated from Texas A&M University in 2004 with a B.S. in Park & Natural Resource Management and a minor in Geoinformatics. After college, I went to work for a Land Surveying company in the field, making $12 an hour. I worked as the third man on a three-man survey crew alongside Party Chiefs who could hand-calculate horizontal curves on the fly.
I eventually received a job offer in Colorado Springs, CO, to return to Land Surveying, so we sold our house and made the move. But throughout all of this, there was one thing I had never really taken the time to learn: math. I sucked at math. My graduation from Texas A&M was dependent on one final exam. I went in and bombed it. I walked the stage, but still had to take one final class in the evening after moving to Austin, TX, while working in the field during the day. More on my math journey later—one that I eventually overcame. My wife, son, and I moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, in 2016. I now work for an Architecture, Engineering, and Land Surveying company. Over the years, my boss helped me recognize the areas where I was weakest and encouraged me to focus on them—especially math. I went back to school at Colorado Mesa University and earned my AAS degree to qualify to sit for the exams needed to obtain my PLS. I can relate to the student journey because I was one myself only a couple of years ago. I want to help you understand the process, build confidence and build a plan to help you achieve your success.
