My background is a little unusual: I hold two bachelor's degrees, one in electrical engineering and one in human biology, and I spent years as a power engineer designing electrical substations. Lots of applied math where the numbers have real consequences.
Before that I spent two years teaching full high-school classrooms in Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry. Right now I'm back in school myself as a pre-med post-bacc student carrying a 4.0, which means I'm not someone fondly remembering this material from fifteen years ago. I'm sitting in lecture halls taking exams on it this semester, so I know exactly what the student side still feels like, test anxiety included.
