I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Education. I am a third-year public middle school teacher and hold a Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching license with Career and Technical Education endorsements in Information Technology (K–12) and Computer Science (grades 6–8). In my current role, I teach coding, computer science fundamentals, and robotics, working with students who range from complete beginners to those transitioning from block-based programming to text-based languages such as Python.
My teaching approach focuses on helping students truly understand how technology works by breaking complex ideas into clear, manageable steps and reinforcing learning through hands-on practice. I regularly teach topics such as computational thinking, problem-solving, loops, conditionals, and basic algorithms using age-appropriate tools like Scratch, block-based robotics platforms, introductory 3D design, and beginner Python projects. I emphasize understanding and logical thinking over memorization, and I encourage students to explain their thought process as they code, allowing them to build confidence and independence.
I have experience teaching students primarily at the middle school levels in both classroom and small-group settings. During tutoring sessions, I adapt lessons to each student’s pace and learning style, provide guided practice, and connect coding and information technology concepts to real-world applications. My goal is to help students feel confident, capable, and excited about learning information technology and computer science, while building a strong foundation that prepares them for future coursework, careers, and a technology-driven world.
