Tom has been producing documentaries for more than twenty-five years, with an emphasis on social awareness, natural history, history, and science. Since 2002, Tom has produced thirty-seven half-hour documentaries that were shot on location in Iraq, Afghanistan, Jordan, Mexico, France and the U.S. His programs have appeared on ABC, NBC, FOX, HDNet, al Jezeera International, BBC , and Algerian Television. Prior to being a documentary producer Tom lived and worked as a journalist in Iran for seven years.
His documentaries have won numerous awards on the international festival circuit. One recently won the top award, the Platinum Remi, for investigative documentaries, at an International Film Festival against 54 other entries. Two of his documentaries were selected for showings at the New York International Film Festival. His natural history documentary won the Gold Award in the TV Pilot Category at an International Film Festival against 45 entries.
Tom, received his BA degree from San Francisco State University in Creative Arts with an emphasis in Motion Picture Production and Still Photography. He did graduate work at San Francisco State taking classes in advanced Motion Picture Production and Political Geography. Tom worked as an instructor at Red Rocks Community College as a teacher of introduction to video production, editing and documentary productions. He has presented seminars on social awareness documentary and natural history documentaries.
