My name is Katie and I have been running Fruitful Learning since 2023 where I help students K-5 close gaps in their learning. My name is Katie and I have been running Fruitful Learning since 2023 where I help students K-5 close gaps in their learning. I attended the University of New Mexico from 2012-2014 where I found my passion for working with children. I then moved back home to Colorado and began my journey to become a teacher at Colorado Christian University. I graduated from there in December 2018, which I promptly began substitute teaching. Fall of 2019 I began my first year of teaching. During that time, I received Orton-Gillingham training through IMSE and currently implement multi-sensory learning into my lessons. In July of 2020, I moved back to New Mexico where I taught kindergarten for two more years. During my time in New Mexico, I pursued my Master's in Reading for Elementary Education. I graduated from Grand Canyon University in January 2023. After my time in New Mexico, I once again, moved back home to Colorado where I accepted and second grade teaching position. It was during that year that I decided it was time to pursue tutoring full time.
I have taught everything from whole group instruction to one-on-one. I use the Orton-Gillingham approach (multi-sensory) to engage students during sessions, whether in-person or virtually. I take time to learn about each student, and the way they learn, to tailor their lessons so it fits best with their learning style. I am able to support students in literacy or math in the same multi-sensory manner.
