I first started tutoring back when working on my B.S. in Mathematics and tutored a variety of students in high school subjects as well as adult learners returning to college that needed to brush up on mathematics skills. After graduating from college, I went into the business world and was a data analyst for over 15 years. During that time, I continued mentoring young people who worked with me, taught short software and content courses, and taught multi-day seminars.
In 2020, I left the business world and took some time off. During 2021, I decided to return to my love of working with students and got a teaching certificate for high school Mathematics and begun teaching high school.
In the last few years, I have taught in person, virtually, blended learning, and one-on-one tutoring. When teaching and tutoring, I want to give students plenty of opportunities for practicing their new skills and understanding conceptually what the math is about. I work with each student individually to find the balance of these two that works best for that student.
I approach all students with patience, kindness, encouragement and students can expect a welcoming atmosphere even when they've struggled in the past.
