Bio

Hello students and parents,

I am a math tutor. I have over five years of experience tutoring at the junior high school, high school and college levels. I received my master’s degree in Electric Engineer from University of Colorado at Boulder, and my bachelor’s degree is in Science and Math, with a Psychology Minor. I have been tutoring since I was in Undergrad. I am volunteering as a tutor to help the kids study at my Church.

I am a math tutor. I have over five years of experience tutoring at the junior high school, high school and college levels. I received my master’s degree in Electric Engineer from University of Colorado at Boulder, and my bachelor’s degree is in Science and Math, with a Psychology Minor. I have been tutoring since I was in Undergrad. I am volunteering as a tutor to help the kids study at my Church.

The Subjects I am tutoring include: all levels of Math [Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, College Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus and Linear Algebra]; all levels of Chinese [Speaking, Writing and Reading]; and all levels of Physics.

I help to create the self-confidence of study. I help to build a unique way to learn math for every student that is easy, understandable and efficient. I help students understand the key theories and formulas and get the ideas to solve problems. I give practice only when needed.

Sharing my knowledge with students to enhance their desire to learn is the key of my classes.

Algebra 1

Having a strong function on Algebra 1 is strategic important to every student. I usually focus on the way to make Algebra 1 study easier than it looks. There are always some tips on how to learn it. I will use different tutor ways, in order to fit different students’ requirements.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

Algebra 2 is a required course for all high school students. It is also the subject the most students struggling with. It is a most important part in ACT/SAT tests. In order to learn Algebra 2 better, the strong foundation of Algebra 1 is required. I have been tutoring Algebra 2 for more than five years. I use my own way to help students understand all kinds of rules easier and how to graph a function. I usually give all kinds of examples to students practice on each concept. I will prepare a note for student in every session.
Calculus

I have my own notes for all kinds of concepts with typical samples for calculus. My goal is learning with joy, preparing for the AP Calculus exam with confidence.
Chinese

I was born in China. I have lived, traveled and worked throughout China until I came to US. I am a native Chinese speaker with reading and writing skills. I have more than five years of experience as a Chinese Tutor. My students' ages range from K-12 to college students, with levels of beginner, intermediate and advanced. Sharing my knowledge with others to enhance their desire to learn is the key of my classes. Learning in a fun and easy going environment is my tutoring style. I have two years of experience doing document translation in Chinese to English or English to Chinese for the College.

I have taken Differential Equations Class as one part of our Advanced Mathematics classes, when I was in College. It is the required course for undergraduate students of my major. My professor gave us very difficult and tricky questions on our exams; nonetheless, I got an A- in this class. I feel very confident to tutor.

I took Linear Algebra in the college too. It is another part of Advanced Mathematics classes. It was required to complete the Advanced Mathematics classes in the first two years of the college in my major. I did very well in this class. I just tested myself using the midterm exams from University of Toronto, and I got 90% of the questions correct.

I have more than two years Software tester work experience. It was required to use Microsoft Outlook to receive all email from work. It is very easy to use and very helpful. I use it not only everyday, but almost every five minutes or less at work.

I have more than two years of Software tester work experience. We use the Microsoft Project to manage all the projects we were processing, since the planning to delivered to the industry. I use it almost everyday to mark my status.
Physics

Physics

Some High school or College students take Physics. There are several different levels of difficulties. Most students think it is hard to learn. Beside all of the formulas of each concepts, how to use the formulas is the hardest part. Why use this formula, not the other one and how to use it. Students ask me these questions all the time. Analyzing the problems given is the key to answer of the questions. I always use real life example to explain what the problems mean and why the certain motion happens. I always give some similar practice to make students' understanding solid. I give a note includes all kinds of formulas every session. In order to understand the Newton Laws, I put three of them together and compare the difference. I find out comparing two or more similar concepts is very effective.
Precalculus

Precalculus

Most high school students study Precalculus. It is also one of the most subjects I have been tutoring. Every concept of Precalculus is specific. I will focus on different ways for each concept. I usually don't use exactly the same tutoring way for each student during each session. My strength is helping students to understand what, how and why the equation should be.
SAT Math

SAT Math

The SAT math currently has been changed. There are both calculator sections and non calculator sections right now. I have been helping many students preparing SAT math every year. I usually start with the most important formulas and rules with every student. I found it is very helpful for the future sessions.
Trigonometry

Trigonometry

I have been tutoring trigonometry for more than five years. It is one of the most popular subjects I have been tutored. The unit circle is the key concept to know trigonometry, it is also the beginning of this subject. I usually help students understand it first.

Lin is a great tutor

Both of my kids worked with Lin for both Physics and Trig/Pre-calc. They each had different questions and she was able to help them understand not just how to solve the problems, but also understand why they would use them. They each learned a lot in just the first lesson. She's a great tutor and we plan to work with her going forward. Very happy.
