Hello! My name is Melinda, and I am a student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill pursuing a degree in Public Health–Biostatistics. Throughout high school, I maintained a 4.0 GPA while taking rigorous coursework including AP Calculus BC, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Physics, Calculus III, and Linear Algebra.
Over the past four years, I have worked with students in a variety of educational settings. As a volunteer Teacher's Assistant at Bohua Chinese School, I worked with second and third grade students in a classroom environment, helping with lessons, grading assignments, and leading activities to keep students engaged. I also served as a Teacher's Assistant for a high school Algebra II/Trigonometry class, where I provided one-on-one academic support and helped students better understand challenging concepts. In addition, I coached middle school students as an Assistant Coach for Science Olympiad, teaching content, leading instructional sessions, and mentoring students throughout the competition season.
My approach to tutoring focuses on creating a supportive and encouraging learning environment. I believe that students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions and are actively involved in the learning process. Rather than simply providing answers, I work with students to understand concepts, develop problem-solving strategies, and build confidence in their abilities. I strive to adapt my teaching style to each student's individual needs and learning preferences so they can achieve lasting academic success.
