Hi! My name is Reesor B. I am currently pursuing a degree in accounting while working full time as an accounting clerk. I graduated high school Summa Cum Laude with a 4.45 GPA and completed 4 college-level AP courses. Hi! My name is Reesor B. I am currently pursuing a degree in accounting while working full time as an accounting clerk. I graduated high school Summa Cum Laude with a 4.45 GPA and completed 4 college-level AP courses. Throughout my academic career, from elementary school through two years of college, I have only received a single B. (But it was French, so who’s counting!) I have always excelled in mathematics, including arithmetic, algebra, and geometry, all the way to calculus, but more importantly, I actually enjoy it!
My passion for teaching developed through both formal and informal experiences. At 12 years old, I became an assistant coach at my Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gym. Then in school, I was often a go-to resource for classmates who needed help understanding challenging material. My interest in teaching really deepened during my AP Psychology course, where I studied how people learn best, effective study habits, and strategies for academic success. During a final project, I was voted “Best Teacher” by my peers for my ability to explain concepts clearly and effectively.
While I am still building my formal tutoring experience, I promise to bring my strong academic performance and enthusiasm to every student. I focus on building a solid foundation by helping students understand concepts from the ground up, rather than chasing a grade. Success in math often requires an understanding of the broader concepts. How equations interact, where they come from, and what they will become, are all vital to not only understanding, but enjoying math. My teaching approach includes recontextualizing concepts in creative and accessible ways, using mnemonic devices, and having students demonstrate mastery by teaching concepts back to me. Most importantly, I aim to create a supportive and engaging environment where students feel confident asking questions and developing the same curiosity and passion for learning that I share.
