I have worked closely with high school students on writing and developing ideas in Boulder Valley classrooms, privately tutored graduate students in ESL, and taught Creative Writing at the University of Michigan. I take satisfaction in helping students to discover that they know more than they think they know.
I am a humanistic teacher. I take seriously the idea that reading, writing and critical thinking develop the self. I seek to engage students in conversation and the exchange of ideas. I can supportively critique student writing and rewriting. I can help with class presentations, English- related tests and organization. I give students timed writings and seek their feedback.
