Bio

I work with students 3rd grade and up. I specialize in math up to Algebra, SAT/ACT prep and essay writing for college applications or scholarships. I have helped hundreds of students since I started to teach in 2003 and I really love my job. My students consistently earn incredibly high scores and are almost always admitted to their top choice college. Many of them earn scholarship money as well. I would be honored to help more families.

My expertise in SAT/ACT tutoring includes 5 years teaching SAT/ACT courses full-time for The Princeton Review. I have personally gone through all of the real SAT's and ACT's that have been released since 2003. I have gained a firm sense of the content, structure and timing of each test. I have helped hundreds of students raise their scores and can help you raise your scores too. Most of my students are able to make significant score improvements with just one or two sessions focused on their biggest weaknesses. However, I see the largest gains from students who also spend a little extra time to fully capitalize on their strengths.

I also spent years reviewing and evaluating scholarship application essays for the CU Boulder History Department’s undergraduate scholarship program. I can help you write compelling essays for your college application and/or scholarships. I work very hard to help my students earn the highest scores and the most scholarship money.

With younger students I have helped increase their understanding of areas they have fallen behind on or are struggling with. This has been especially helpful to students after the pandemic.

The most important thing to remember is that it is not really a science test at all, but actually a test of how well you read charts and graphs. If you get really good at finding the proper clues in the questions the answers become much easier to find. I would be happy to give you some pointers!

FIVE point increase!

Michael worked with my son on his ACT prep and we are thrilled with the results. My son increased his ACT composite score by five points - after just five lessons with Michael. Prior to working with Michael, we paid for two very expensive boot camps and were not thrilled with a group prep environment. I wasn't sure how my son would do working with someone remotely, but he enjoyed his lessons and clearly improved his knowledge and skill for taking the test.
