I have a B.Sc. in Biology from Brown University, an Ivy League school, as well as a Ph.D. in Molecular and Medical Genetics, which is the study of the molecular pathways that lead from errors in genes to inherited human diseases. Additionally, my coursework during my studies included molecular genetics, biochemistry, eukaryotic genetics, eukaryotic cell biology, molecular mechanisms of disease, basic neuroscience, evolutionary biology, and developmental biology, so I can tutor any of these subjects and explain/clarify concepts and topics in or spanning these biological subjects.

Genetics

Genetics, in general, is the study of the inheritance of DNA and, thereby, of the physiological or biological traits that are driven by the genes encoded in DNA. Molecular genetics is the study of the cellular and sub-cellular processes involved in the inheritance, maintenance, and regulation of DNA and in expression of genes, as well as of the processes within cells involving DNA, RNA, and proteins. I have a Ph.D. (from Oregon Health & Science University, Portland, OR) in Molecular and Medical Genetics, a specialization of general and molecular genetics that focuses on the molecular and cellular pathways, interactions, and processes that go wrong to cause inherited/heritable diseases and cancers. I also have practical research experience in molecular medical genetics, through two post-doctoral fellowships. Therefore, I can explain basic or advanced concepts and techniques in genetics, molecular genetics, and molecular medical genetics and make them easy to understand. Additionally, my coursework during my studies included molecular genetics, biochemistry, eukaryotic genetics, eukaryotic cell biology, molecular mechanisms of disease, basic neuroscience, evolutionary biology, and developmental biology, so I can tutor any of these subjects and explain concepts and topics in or spanning these biological subjects.
