Hi! My name is Colby, and I'm currently a History student at Front Range Community College, where I've maintained a 4.0 GPA while working toward my associate degree. I will be transferring to the University of Colorado Boulder to complete my bachelor's degree in History while earning my teaching license. My goal is to become a middle or high school history teacher because I enjoy helping students build confidence and discover what they're capable of.

As a college peer mentor, I work one-on-one with students from a variety of backgrounds, helping them improve study skills, organization, time management, executive functioning, and reduce academic stress. Academic coaching is my primary focus. I believe that learning how to study, stay organized, and approach school with confidence creates success far beyond a single assignment or test. Because I'm also a History student, I tutor U.S. History, World History, and general history courses, helping students understand concepts instead of simply memorizing facts.

I'm passionate about this work because I understand what it feels like to struggle in school. I have dyslexia, and for many years learning was difficult. Through perseverance, hard work, and finding strategies that worked for me, I earned a 4.0 GPA in college. That journey allows me to connect with students who feel overwhelmed and show them that success is possible with the right support. I enjoy working with middle school, high school, and college students, and I tailor every session to each student's goals and learning style. I truly believe every student deserves the opportunity to succeed. Sometimes all it takes is someone who believes in them, meets them where they are, and helps them discover what they're capable of. My goal is to be that person.

Through my mentoring experience and my own academic journey earning a 4.0 GPA, I have developed practical strategies that help students stay organized, reduce academic stress, and become more confident, independent learners. My goal is to equip students with skills they can continue using throughout middle school, high school, college, and beyond.

As a college peer mentor and academic coach, I help students build effective study habits that improve confidence and academic success. I work with students on organization, time management, note-taking, test preparation, active reading, memorization strategies, and overcoming procrastination.
