I'm a senior civil engineering student at the University of Colorado Boulder with a 3.97 GPA, specializing in geotechnical engineering. Alongside my coursework, I work as a geotechnical engineering intern at Kiewit, one of North America's largest infrastructure contractors, and hold an undergraduate research position in CU's geotechnical engineering program. This means the subjects I tutor aren't just classes I passed. They're tools I use professionally every week on real infrastructure projects. I tutor the foundational courses where engineering students most often struggle, including statics, mechanics of materials, and calculus, as well as upper-level civil courses like Geotechnical Engineering 1 and 2, fluid mechanics, and hydrology.
My teaching experience comes from years of informal one-on-one and small-group work with fellow college students. As a former Division II football player, I balanced a demanding athletic schedule with rigorous coursework, and I regularly helped teammates and classmates work through problem sets, prepare for exams, and rebuild their understanding of material they'd fallen behind on. That experience shaped my approach: everything I do is personal, not generic. Unlike drop-in campus tutoring, where you get whoever is available, I work with each student individually and build a study plan around their specific gaps, their exam schedule, and how they actually learn. I diagnose where understanding broke down, rebuild from that point, and connect abstract concepts to real examples from engineering practice.
I work primarily with college students, particularly those in weed-out engineering and math courses, though I'm also comfortable tutoring advanced high school students in calculus and physics. Having recently earned top grades in these exact courses at CU, I know the professors' expectations, the common exam pitfalls, and what it takes to turn a struggling semester around. My goal for every student is genuine understanding, because that's what makes the grade sustainable.
