I’m a mathemagician, experienced educator, and lifelong learner local to Boulder, Colorado. Having taught kung fu for Shaolin Hung Mei Kung Fu Boulder throughout high school, TAed applied math for CU Boulder for 4 semesters, authored Effect of Learning by Teaching in a Flipped Classroom (available on my linkedin), and taught K-12 at Art of Problem Solving for 6 years, I have always sought the magic in teaching—and learning! Lately I’ve been interested in holistic and more accessible education, combining what I’ve learned from 10 years of spiritual training following 25 years of mainstream education, into various formats: bilingual videos on my website, volunteer teaching TaiJi at the St. Francis Center, and spending a summer traveling Alabama while making math videos for restaurant workers. Ever since I have been slowly picking up Spanish (poquito, mas momento) and even some Sanskrit (sacred mantras and chants) from my various restaurant friends and spiritual teachers.
I’ve always loved plants and nature, was the kid in school who wished our school had a garden and class time for it, majored/minored in applied math/physics because I wanted to know how the universe works, and now specialize in game theory, fractals, and decentralization research all of which are heavily inspired by it. Check out my talks including Alabama ARML Game Theory, Why do Fibonacci Numbers Appear in Pinecones, and Decentralizing Decentralization (for Blockchain Training Conference 2019) all of which are on youtube. In addition I have given online sessions in taichi and kirtan/mantra singing, both of which I consider to be martial arts. If you’re interested in learning more, talk to me anytime, maybe book a session. All the skills I teach and learn are what I have found practical and useful in my everyday life, and I hope they help you too!
I tutor all ages, all Applied Math courses at the undergraduate level and below, and Martial Arts. Financial aid options include work/study and the above resources.
