Hi, I'm Kiana! I am currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in psychology at the University of Colorado Boulder, with minors in both Italian and sociology. My academic background in psychology gives me insight into how students learn, process information, and overcome academic challenges—insight I apply directly to my tutoring. I have one year of formal experience as a math tutor at Mathnasium, where I worked with students from pre-K through high school. During that time, I became comfortable adapting to a wide range of learning styles and levels, from early math foundations to higher-level problem solving.

While studying abroad in Italy, I also served as an English teaching assistant in a local middle school, working with students aged 11–12. That experience taught me how to engage learners in a second language setting using clear, focused lessons and a lot of patience—skills that carry over into all of my tutoring work. My approach emphasizes asking thoughtful questions to check understanding, walking through problems step-by-step, and encouraging students to solve on their own with support as needed. I believe in using tangible tools and multiple perspectives to help abstract concepts make sense.

In both math and English, I strive to create a calm, encouraging space where students feel safe making mistakes and asking questions. I design each session with a clear objective in mind and adapt my methods to the student’s individual needs and learning style. Whether we're reviewing Common Core math or building language skills, my goal is to help students gain confidence, independence, and a genuine understanding of the material.
