Hello! My name is Cody, and I am a driven and dedicated mathematics tutor looking to use my critical thinking and cooperation skills to help others learn mathematics and understand mathematical logic more deeply. I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Colorado Boulder, and I was a MASP scholarship recipient, a recipient of the Jim and Laura Marshall Scholarship in Mathematics, and a soon-to-be-published researcher. Learning can be difficult, and as such, I prioritize empathy and patience while teaching. I start from the material that the student feels comfortable with, and I help the student build on top of their knowledge to ensure thorough understanding of the material and to provide a less stressful and more enjoyable learning experience. I focus on open communication with the student, and I firmly believe that there are no stupid questions. If one method to learn the material doesn't work, I will try another, and I will continue to try until the student feels confident in their understanding.
I am experienced in many different subjects within mathematics, including but not limited to precalculus, calculus, linear algebra, discrete mathematics, and statistics. I have been tutoring a variety of mathematics for the last 5 years, and I have been a Learning Assistant at the University of Colorado Boulder for calculus 3 and precalculus. During this time, I tutored students one-on-one as well as in small groups, and I worked with them to ensure that they felt comfortable with the material and confident enough in their understanding to more forward with the content independently. I believe that mathematics is best learned collaboratively, and working with students rather than lecturing at them is an important part of my pedagogy.
It is my goal that students walk away feeling more comfortable, confident, and engaged with the material than they were initially. Feel free to contact me with any additional questions or schedule a lesson!
