I'm Whitney! I graduated Summa cum laude from Northern Arizona University in 2019, majoring in biology and minoring in chemistry. I most recently spent five years in Dublin, Ireland getting my master's degree in conservation and PhD in zoology. I have always had a strong interest in the biological sciences, and I am excited to help students feel the same!
During my undergraduate, I worked as a biology and chemistry tutor for three years, both one-on-one and in group settings. Here, I gained the skills to adapt to diverse learning styles and to utilize visual aids, analogies, and other learning techniques to facilitate student understanding. During my PhD, I worked as a teaching assistant in undergraduate biology labs for two years, and I supervised multiple undergraduate research projects, teaching students proper lab safety and protocol, explaining complex scientific concepts in an accessible manner, and being a mentor for students while they tackled difficult assignments.
My science teachers made a positive impact on my life and encouraged me throughout my academic career, and I would love to step into that role for other students. I look forward to helping out in anyway I can. Feel free to reach out with any questions or to schedule a lesson!
