Hello, I'm Shawna! I graduated from Southern New Hampshire University in 2022 with a Bachelor's in Mathematics. In elementary school I struggled to understand mathematical concepts until I had a tutor who helped me realize it wasn't me that was the problem; it was the teaching method not being in tune with my learning style. I eventually overcame these challenges and understood the importance of learning versus teaching styles. This helped me learn and maintain good note-taking and study habits. In 2010, I became a tutor for Elementary grade school children and helped them with their educational challenges.

Over the years, I expanded my tutoring services to Middle and High school students. Eventually, turning tutoring into a full-time role. This included attending in-person and online classes with students to help assess the teaching style and notetaking methods. I work toward creating practice worksheets and quizzes, fun interactive activities, teaching study and note-taking best practices, and overall tracking student progression. I use these and modify them to each student's learning style. Then in 2020, I started tutoring college students; this not only included math, but also essay writing, college applications, and personal statements.

My goal is to help every student not only succeed but enjoy learning throughout their educational journey. I find that education should be fun and the more fun it is, the more we want to do it. I do this by understanding the student's needs and ensuring my lessons cater to them. Walking each student through example problems until they are successfully able to solve a problem on their own.

All students are welcome to day-time lesson assistance and help with homework after school. I am quick to respond to queries. Please feel free to contact me to ask questions or schedule a session.
