About Aaron

Bio

I'm Aaron! I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Physics. In college I realized that the classes I appreciated the most were not always the ones I was most interested in - they were the ones taught by professors who were genuinely engaging, explained why things work (not just how), and were willing to go the extra mile when I had questions. That experience shaped how I approach tutoring and I try to bring that same energy, curiosity and clarity to every session.

My tutoring style is best described as curious, unique and out-of-the-box. I ask a lot of questions to get students thinking for themselves and connecting the dots. I believe that understanding the "why" behind a concept is just as important as knowing the steps. That said, I also know when to shift gears and focus on repetition, especially when a student just needs to get the homework done.

I typically begin sessions by introducing the topic in a fun or unusual way, then explicitly teach the material followed by letting the student practice while I observe and jump in as needed. I work best with advanced learners who like to go deep and move fast, but I am also adaptable with students who need to slow things down.

I have over a year of experience tutoring, worked one-on-one with students who needed additional support and led a focused small group for those most at risk of falling behind. In addition to my academic background, I've worked as a teaching assistant, taught science over the summer and have even been published in scientific journals.

I specialize in Math, Science and English for students from grade 5 through sophomore year of college. I primarily tutor online but I offer in person with a 3 hour minimum.

Whether your student is looking to master a subject or just needs help finishing that homework without pulling his or her hair out, I always bring a thoughtful approach to each session.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

Algebra is a critical part of mathematics. Mathematics is a critical part of physics. As a result, throughout my time as a physics major I have continued to learn and strengthen my understanding of Alegebra and its laws.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

Algebra is critical to mathematics, and mathematics is critical to physics. Because of their intertwined nature, every physics problem I have done and equation I have solved strengthened my ability to recall and use properly the laws of Algebra 2.
Astronomy

Astronomy

In College, I majored in Physics so that I could complete my dream of becoming an astrophysicist - someone who studies stars and the limitlessness of the universe. Because of this passion, I began learning about space from a very young age and all that knowledge has remained within me. I did research on the subject, using telescope to try and find exoplanets, which left me with a great knowledge of the equations and concepts used in Astronomy.
Physical Science

Physical Science

I'm currently in school for an M.S in Atmospheric Science - a science that qualifies as a Physical Science. I did research over the summer in this field and find the ways that math can describe the physical world fascinating.
Physics

Physics

I have multiple years of Physics experience in research, as a student and as an instructor. I have graduated recently enough to remember most of the content in all of my classes; my area of expertise is broad and general enough to help anyone and everyone who needs it. I have done paid internships, been published in a scientific journal and taught non-majors in an introductory physics class.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

Algebra is a critical part of mathematics. Mathematics is a critical part of physics. Pre-Algebra, algebra's toe-in-the-water counterpart, is no exception. As the place where most students really begin to understand and learn about Algebra and its concepts, a bad learning experience here can get out of hand as concepts get more complex. Every problem I solve as a Physics Major and M.S. student has some variation of Algebra and Prealgebra concepts involved in it. On a daily basis, my understanding of the topic increases in an ever more robust way.
Precalculus

Precalculus

As a physics major, there is no more critical aspect of mathematics than Calculus. Pre-calculus, it's year-earlier variant, is no exception. The many new subjects that students learn in Pre-Calculus such as trigonometric rules and the use of the exponential function come up all the time as a Physics major, so my familiarity with the subject continues to increase on a daily basis.
