Hello! My name is Skylar, and I am a licensed elementary teacher with a Master’s degree in Education. I have spent several years working with young learners, including experience as both a kindergarten and first-grade teacher. In addition to classroom teaching, I have experience providing small-group and individualized instruction to help students strengthen foundational academic skills.
My passion is helping children build confidence and success in reading. I have completed LETRS training and use research-based literacy practices grounded in the Science of Reading. I specialize in phonemic awareness, phonics, decoding, fluency, vocabulary, and reading comprehension. I also have experience supporting students with learning differences, including dyslexia, and I believe every child can make meaningful growth when instruction is tailored to their individual needs.
My tutoring sessions are engaging, encouraging, and personalized to each student’s goals. I begin by identifying strengths and areas for growth, then create targeted lessons that help students develop skills while building confidence. I strive to create a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable taking risks, asking questions, and celebrating their progress. Whether your child needs extra support, wants to prevent summer learning loss, or is looking to get ahead, I would love the opportunity to help them succeed.
