Dear Students and Parents,
Hi, my name is Sophia! I'm currently a medical student with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University. My academic journey has given me a strong foundation in biology, physics, and quantitative problem-solving, and I enjoy helping students develop both subject mastery and confidence in their learning abilities. I scored in the 97th percentile on the MCAT, and in the 99th percentile on both the SAT and ACT. I love working with students, not just on content, but also on test strategies that can make a big difference.
While at Johns Hopkins, I served as a teaching assistant for several courses, including multiple upper-level core and elective courses in STEM and Physics I & II for engineering students. In these roles, I led small-group discussion sections, held office hours, and hosted exam review sessions. These experiences gave me the chance to work closely with undergraduate students who had different learning styles and academic goals. I always try to break down complex topics into understandable pieces and guide students through problem-solving with patience and clarity. My specialty in STEM-related subjects includes Math (Statistics/Algebra/Calculus/Geometry), Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. I’ve also tutored one-on-one with elementary school students and high school students in the past few years, where I have seen students consistently improve and often exceed their initial goals.
My tutoring style is highly interactive—I focus on understanding where a student is coming from and helping them build a solid conceptual foundation. I believe that learning should be engaging and collaborative, and I always adjust my approach based on each student's unique needs. Whether you're preparing for a standardized test or tackling a challenging course, I’m happy to help you succeed!
