My name is Rafael. I am a bilingual (English/Spanish) licensed secondary science teacher with a 7-12 Professional Science Teaching License and a strong background in both biology and earth and environmental science. My academic training and certification have equipped me with the knowledge and skills to teach a wide range of scientific disciplines while aligning instruction with state and national standards. I am confident in my ability to break down complex concepts into clear, engaging lessons that help students build both understanding and confidence.

Over the past several years, I have taught science in classroom settings with middle and high school students, primarily grades 8 through 12. My experience includes guiding students through foundational life and earth science concepts, as well as supporting more advanced learners in biology. I have also worked one-on-one with students who needed targeted help in English and Spanish, including English Language Learners, students with IEPs and 504s, and those preparing for exams. My teaching approach is student-centered and inquiry-based, blending hands-on activities, discussions, and visual tools to make science accessible for every learner.

I believe that effective tutoring requires both subject expertise and the ability to adapt to the needs of each individual student. I have helped students prepare for tests, complete lab reports, and strengthen their overall scientific reasoning skills. My goal as a tutor is not only to improve grades but also to spark curiosity and show students how science connects to their everyday lives. With my certification, classroom experience, and commitment to making science simple and engaging, I am confident in my ability to support learners from middle school through high school in achieving their academic goals.
