I’ve been tutoring math, chemistry, and physics — including engineering-level courses — for over 25 years, and I love helping students make difficult concepts finally click. My favorite moment is when a student stops and says, “That’s it? It’s that easy?!” — and I get to reply, “Yep.”

I’ve been tutoring math, chemistry, and physics — including engineering-level courses — for over 25 years, and I love helping students make difficult concepts finally click. My favorite moment is when a student stops and says, “That’s it? It’s that easy?!” — and I get to reply, “Yep.”

I’ve taught at the university level (both community colleges and for-profit institutions), as well as K–12 science, including a 12-week 5th-grade science course. I work with middle school, high school, college, and adult learners, especially students who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or convinced they “just aren’t good at math or science.”

I have extensive experience working with students with ADHD, ADD, dyslexia, and other learning differences. I bring a personal understanding to this work — I’m dyslexic myself — and adapt sessions to match each student’s learning style, pace, and goals.

Outside of tutoring, I work professionally in energy and utilities, focusing on drafting, GIS, and mineral title work. During college, I completed two internships with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory and worked on the Mars Exploration Rover (Spirit & Opportunity) mission, which allows me to connect theory to real-world applications.

My tutoring style is collaborative and goal-driven. Students play an active role in choosing topics and problem types, whether we’re strengthening fundamentals, preparing for exams, or improving problem-solving strategies. I emphasize conceptual understanding, visualization, and confidence, so students can succeed independently — not just during our sessions.

Outside of work, I enjoy reading (often tracking down friends’ favorite books), running and walking with my dogs, and staying active. I’ve completed eight half-marathons and one full marathon — an accomplishment I’m proud of, and happy to say was a one-time experience!

Very Patient

Jill is a great tutor/teacher. She was very patient and understanding. I have a very hard with math and have ran across other teachers who get impatient with me. She never once showed she was. She explained things in an easier manner than my current teacher. She slowed things down and helped me remember things I have not done in years.

Well versed in the subject (Calculus) and able to present it well.

Jill worked with my daughter on her AP Calculus. My daughter said that Jill did a great job of explaining the concepts and helping her understand the process related to derivatives.

Great tutor!

Jill is the best. She works with my 15 year old daughter in Algebra I. In just four weeks time, her teacher has noticed improvement in my daughter's understanding of math concepts. Jill is very patient and takes the time to explain the problems. She is always punctual and accommodating.

GREAT TUTOR!

Jill is the best tutor any of my three kids have ever had. She is intelligent, patient, knows her math, and is punctual. I would recommend her to any of my friends, she has my strongest endorsement. She is the tutor every person would want.
