I hold a PhD in Environmental Sciences from the University of Virginia, with academic training in mathematics up to Calculus III, data science, statistics, GIS, introductory geology, sedimentology, geomorphology, glaciology, and Earth surface processes. My coursework and research emphasize understanding physical Earth processes through data, mathematics, mapping, and real-world examples, which informs how I teach and explain concepts to students.

I have nearly 10 years of teaching and tutoring experience working with high school, undergraduate, and graduate students in one-on-one, small-group, and classroom or lab settings. My experience includes TA roles, tutoring, and mentoring where I supported students with homework, exam preparation, lab assignments, data interpretation, and scientific writing.

My teaching style is student-centered and concept-focused. I prioritize helping students understand why mathematics approaches and scientific processes occur rather than relying on memorization. I use clear visuals, step-by-step problem solving, diagrams, and real-world examples to make complex topics approachable. I adapt my approach to each student’s learning style and goals, building confidence alongside content mastery.

I have worked primarily with 16-24 year old students in introductory and intermediate mathematics and Earth science courses, supporting learners with varying backgrounds and levels of preparation. My experience across multiple instructional settings allows me to tailor explanations and pacing to meet individual student needs.
