My name is Maria, and I graduated from NYU in May of 2019. I majored in English with a specialization in creative writing and minored in creative writing and politics. I have a passion for literature and enjoy sharing my interest in it with others. I also have a background in academic and creative writing and can help others express themselves better through writing.
While at university, I was a mentor to first-generation college students and it taught me how to communicate well with others, respond quickly to a variety of needs, and make sure that a student feels informed and confident in any endeavor.
More personally, I am very close to my family. They have helped me throughout my life and I appreciate their support in every step. I have a cat and he is a high-energy ball of fur.
I majored in English/Creative Writing at NYU and took a variety of English courses ranging from early British literature, post-war American literature, to South American and Carribbean Literature. I earned a 3.63 GPA and did great in all of my English courses. Each of these classes also nurtured a deep understanding of academic and creative writing. Moreover, these courses assignments taught me how to read quickly while also understanding and retaining information and how to make notes as you move through a piece.
