Hello! My name is Andrew, and I am a mathematician and educator with a Master’s degree and over 7 years of experience helping students bridge the gap between "memorizing formulas" and true mathematical fluency. My background is not just in teaching, but in curriculum design; I previously served as the Accelerated Math Instructor at Foothill Country Day School, where I built custom courses based on the rigorous standards of Phillips Exeter Academy and the Art of Problem Solving (AoPS). I specialize in working with high-performing students who feel constrained by standard textbooks and are ready to tackle mathematics as a creative, structural discipline.

My teaching philosophy is grounded in the idea that math should make sense visually and conceptually, not just computationally. For students working through the Art of Problem Solving (AoPS) curriculum, I act as a guide through the "discovery" method—helping them navigate challenging problems without stealing the insight that comes from solving it themselves. For AP Calculus and Linear Algebra students, I focus on "de-mystifying" the abstract; we won't just memorize the steps for a derivative, we will build the geometric intuition for why it works. Whether you are preparing for competitions like the AMC 8/MathCounts or simply want to master high-school mathematics at a university level, my goal is to help you build a toolkit that lasts a lifetime.
