I have a master's degree in Education with an emphasis in Teaching English to the Speakers of other Languages. I taught English to medical students in Dali Medical College, China, for more than 10 years, at the same time I taught Chinese to students from the USA, England, Canada and other countries. I taught Chinese to English translation to students majored in Chinese Teaching. Currently, I am working as a interpreter for California State University, Fullerton, Extended Education, Asia to do instant class teaching interpreting. I am qualified to teach and tutor Chinese. The purpose of learning Chinese in an Interactive Way is to teach students of all ages to understand, speak, read, and write Mandarin Chinese from basic to advanced level. The tutoring sessions will be designed according to the needs of the students. It can be supplemental to the courses at school, such as helping students with homework, preparing for exams; Or for the purposes of traveling and business; or for the individuals who want to learn a new language to sharpen their brain and prevent memory loss. I have taught students ranging from elementary school to high school AP, college students taking Chinese and individuals who need the language to do business in China. The courses cover Chinese Pinyin (Romanization system), Chinese characters both simplified and traditional. Cultural material and information will be utilized to expand students’ knowledge and conversation skills.

The purpose of this English as a Second Language tutoring course is designed to help the individuals, whose first language is not English, with speaking, listening, reading and writing English from elementary to college level. The course curriculum is based on the theories of second language acquisition. The tutoring sessions are designed to help the students make best use of available resources in their environment to master English language. The lesson plans are developed on a learner-centered basis. In addition to pronunciation, intonation, and grammar, the one-on-one tutoring sessions will concentrate on idiomatic use, accent reduction and culture appropriateness. The tutoring sessions will be designed according to the needs of the students, meeting the needs of individuals from daily living survival courses to academic purposes. It can be supplemental to the courses at school, such as helping students with homework and preparing for exams or for the purposes of business.
