Patient Multiple Subject Tutor Specializing in Reading and Writing

I graduated from CSU Long Beach with a B.A. in Liberal Studies and a concentration in History. I am currently a private multiple subject tutor and have over 10 years of experience. For the last 8 years I have been working with homeschooling families and help create lesson plans and a curriculum that suits each individual student.

I've been in the classroom as a substitute dealing with an entire classroom of students and one on one as a tutor. While I feel confident tutoring a wide variety of subjects my favorites are American History, Literature, English/Writing and Reading. I have the most experience with Reading, as I worked with a small group of students while in college. I also volunteered at my kids school for six years, helping with their reading program. Most recently, I have been working with students from pre-k through 12th grade on improving their writing and reading comprehension skills.
For the last two years I have been teaching a creative writing class to 11th grade homeschoolers.

As a Mom I value the importance of education and both of my children now attend college. I believe that with hard work any realistic goal is possible. Each student learns differently and I work hard to recognize their learning styles, so I can provide lessons that are unique to them.

There are many ways to help a student that is struggling or someone who would like to brush up on some skills, and I believe making this task fun. In order to do that, I use many different types of strategies, activities and games. I'm patient, communicate well with others and look forward to helping you or a family member reach their goal.
