I am an experienced tutor specializing in AP Microeconomics, AP Macroeconomics, AP Computer Science Principles, AP Computer Science A, and SAT Math. I earned 5s on all four AP exams and a 770 on SAT Math, but none of that came from being “good at school”. As an IB Diploma recipient, I learned (the hard way) the RIGHT way to study and retain information, and I want to pass it on. I love seeing students grasp hard concepts with methods that are proven to work. I’m currently a freshman studying Data Science and Economics at UC San Diego, and I can personally guarantee success with me as your tutor.
My tutoring background began through the National Honor Society, where I served as Vice President and Head of Tutoring Services. I tutored over 20 students with one-on-one support in math, economics, and computer science, and noticed that the biggest barrier to learning is never intelligence but rather the lack of the right guidance. Your teachers at your high school don’t have the capacity or ability to help you with concepts you don't get the first time around.
I do. I’ve learned how to break down material in a way that makes sense, no matter the student’s starting point. My goal is always the same: to help you understand the “why” behind the content so you can actually remember it when it matters. When talking with a student I quickly note their type of learning and what approaches would optimize their studying, because the last thing I want is to waste your time or money.
I'm only a few years older than the high schoolers I tutor, so I know exactly what it's like to feel like concepts are just too hard to grasp no matter how much you try. I get it. I want to open your eyes to a different kind of studying to ACTUALLY learn; methods that have led to all the students I've tutored in the past getting a 4 or 5 on their AP Economics / CS exams, and over a 750+ on the Math section of the SAT. I believe anyone can achieve the same results that they did, if not better. If you don’t believe me, come see for yourself!
