I'm a Ph.D. in chemistry with more than five years of experience in helping students improve their MCAT scores. I have a strong background in general chemistry, organic chemistry, general biology, biochemistry and social sciences. I also have experience in helping students improving their CARS. I'm a Ph.D. in chemistry with more than five years of experience in helping students improve their MCAT scores. I have a strong background in general chemistry, organic chemistry, general biology, biochemistry and social sciences. I also have experience in helping students improving their CARS. My most recent MCAT score is 522(1/18/24, 132/129/131/130). I also took MCAT six year ago with a high score. This dual testing experiences allow me to discern the evolving trends in the MCAT exam. Since I took MCAT in 2024, I am familiar with the recent high yield topics in MCAT, which can be helpful for students to prepare for the exam.
My approach begins with an in-depth initial meeting to understand each student's goals, identify weaknesses in specific MCAT sections, and assess their available study time. Subsequently, I collaborate with students to develop personalized study plans aligned with their aspirations. Each tutoring session commences with a progress check from the previous meeting and concludes with the creation of a tailored to-do list, fostering self-paced study.
Recognizing the pivotal role of solid foundational knowledge, I promptly address any gaps in understanding fundamental concepts, such as amino acids and the TCA cycle. For students grappling with passage comprehension and information extraction, I employ a step-by-step approach, reading passages together and guiding them through effective problem-solving techniques. If the student has difficulty in finishing the test on time, I will focus on teaching the student test strategies.
I have two years of experience as a teaching assistant at Washington University in St. Louis. In addition, I have tutored 15 students. The students that I have tutored were between 20-35 years old. Many of them were not majored in science. Most of my students saw clear improvement in their MCAT after a few weeks of tutoring.
