Elementary (K-6th)

I was an elementary teacher for 12 years, teaching all grades and subjects for grades K-6. I also taught 6th grade in middle school for 6 and a half years, having a self-contained classroom and teaching all subjects, except physical education. Then I taught middle school 6th grade in a different middle school for seven years, teaching English and social studies. I have a life-time credential K-9 in all subjects, and a life-time English credential for grades K-14. I am a National Board Certified Teacher of Early Adolescent English-Language Arts. And I have a Master's in Education.

English

I have a BA in Literature. I have an MA in Education. I have two life credentials, one of which is in English K-14. I am National Board Certified in Early Adolescent English/Language Arts. I was a Literacy Coach for 8 years for middle and high school and I taught for many years.

ESL/ESOL

I have the proper additional California certification in ESL. Also, I am a National Board Certified Teacher in early adolescent English/language arts. In a portion of my testing for this certification I had to pass a test in ESL and I passed with high scores. I also taught an ESL class for 6th-8th graders for three years at the school where I was teaching middle and high school English.

Hebrew

As a child I went to Hebrew School from the age of 4 until I graduated high school. I attended LA Hebrew High School while attending public school. In college I took Hebrew courses and from UCSD I received my minor in Hebrew Literature. As an adult, I keep refreshed in reading, writing and conversational language.

Public Speaking

I judged high school and college forensics (speech & debate) tournaments for five years. I taught persuasive writing & speaking to my eighth, ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth graders when I taught public school as an English teacher and Literacy Coach.

Study Skills

I am highly qualified to tutor in Study Skills. I was a middle and high school literacy coach for eight years while also teaching middle and high school. Among my many duties as a literacy coach was to help prepare the students for standardized testing each year, which included lessons and practice in maintaining good study skills. I would make a great tutor in this area.
