I have over 20 years of experience working with students across secondary and postsecondary education, with a focus on academic tutoring, writing, and college admissions strategy. I hold a Ph.D. in History from the University of St Andrews, as well as two master’s degrees from the same institution, one in History and one in Middle Eastern and Central Asian Security Studies. I completed my undergraduate education in the United States with a double major in History and Political Science. My academic training in research, analytical writing, critical reading, and historical thinking directly informs my work tutoring students in history, writing, and humanities courses.
My teaching and tutoring experience includes one-on-one academic support, classroom instruction, and individualized college counseling. I have taught and supported students ranging from middle school through graduate-level applicants in one-on-one settings. In addition to tutoring academic subjects such as AP European History, AP World History, and AP U.S. History, and in writing, I have worked for more than two decades in university admissions and advising, including as an admissions officer. This allows me to tutor students not only on course content and skills, but also on how academic performance, course rigor, and writing fit into the broader context of competitive college applications.
My approach is structured, student-centered, and strategy-driven. I focus on helping students understand material deeply rather than memorizing answers, and I adapt my methods to each student’s learning style, goals, and academic level. Whether I am helping a student strengthen analytical essays, prepare for AP exams, or build long-term academic and admissions plans, my goal is to provide clarity, confidence, and practical skills that students can carry forward independently.
