For over a decade, I have worked one-on-one with middle school, high school, and college students, helping them strengthen their skills, navigate challenging coursework, and become more confident and independent learners. I specialize in Spanish, writing, and the humanities, while also providing academic coaching, study strategies, and support across a range of subjects.
Spanish has been a particular focus throughout both my education and tutoring career. I studied Spanish Applied Business at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and earned a Certificate in Spanish Business. My coursework included advanced grammar and composition, linguistics, literature, culture, international trade, and business Spanish. During my senior seminar, I placed in the Advanced Expert category across all assessed areas, including the Oral and Written Language Scales (OWLS) evaluation.
My background at Kenyon College also gave me extensive experience with analytical writing, classical literature, and history through the Integrated Program in Humane Studies. I bring that foundation into my tutoring by helping students organize their ideas, develop stronger arguments, and become more effective writers.
My approach is highly individualized. I take the time to understand how each student learns, where they are having difficulty, and what they want to accomplish. Some students need support mastering a specific course, while others benefit from stronger study habits, organization, writing skills, or academic confidence. I adapt my approach accordingly rather than relying on the same method for every student.
One of the most rewarding parts of tutoring has been working with students over several years and watching them become increasingly independent. I value building relationships that allow students to feel comfortable asking questions, working through difficult material, and challenging themselves.
