Hello, I'm Mike. I have more than a decade of after school tutoring experience. I earned my multiple subject teaching credential in the year 2002 and I’ve been teaching elementary and middle school students for more than 20 years. I feel extremely fortunate to be a teacher. I chose to teach because I wanted a career that would be challenging, meaningful and beneficial.

I wake up every morning ready to teach my students and learn from them as well. While I have high expectations for myself and my students, I know students need to be comfortable to learn. I do everything I can to make learning a creative and fun experience. I believe in the power of play to extend learning. Whenever possible, I include puzzles and games in my lessons. I’m flexible in my lessons and tailor each tutoring session to the needs of the individual student.
I enjoy teaching the core subjects English, history, math and science, but I have also been teaching horticulture (gardening) for the last 15 years. It’s exciting to introduce students to the joy that comes with planting, nurturing and harvesting your own food. There are few things more wonderful than stepping into your garden to pick fresh fruit and vegetables.
I’m easy to reach and I’ll always respond to your messages as soon as possible. Feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule a lesson.
