BA in Japanese with 3+ Years of Teaching Experience

Hello, I am Jonathan C. and I graduated cum laude from California State University Long Beach with a BA in Japanese Language. For many years I have had an interest in the Japanese language and culture and it wasn't until I decided to major in the language that I knew it was something I was incredibly passionate about. I have learned many great things from my peers, teachers, mentors, and even friends from Japan. I also have experience living and working in Japan as an English teacher for several months where I wrote, spoke, listened, and read Japanese on a daily basis. I have a deep understanding of the cultural nuances that are embedded within the Japanese language and society. I have a very advanced standing in the language and because of this I would love to pass down my knowledge to other students so that they may have a better understanding of such a complex and yet fun language.

I have been tutoring and teaching Japanese for the past 3 years. I have helped people with listening comprehension, dialogue revision, kanji, grammar, and conversation practice. I love teaching because I love helping out other people who want to learn the language that I am so passionate about. I want every student that I help to have a better understanding of the language every time we finish our lessons and I would love to make your interest in the language and culture grow as well. I know many students learn differently which is completely okay with me. I am able to adapt to a student's needs and learning habits so that they may learn the language in the most comfortable way possible.

As for credentials, I have received the Dr. Hirai Japanese Scholarship, the Atsuko Hayashi Memorial Scholarship, an Occupational Skills Certificate in Japanese Language, an AA Degree in Japanese Language, and a BA in Japanese Language. I have also received a certification of completion in the Japanese Language Proficiency Test in the N2 level.
