With a goal of becoming a high school mathematics teacher, I earned my B.A. in Mathematics with a concentration in Teaching from California State University, Fullerton in December 2023, followed by my Single Subject Credential in Mathematics in December 2024.
My teaching and tutoring experience spans a wide range of grade levels and learning environments. I tutored sixth-grade students through an after-school service-learning program and later received a scholarship that allowed me to work as a teaching assistant for university mathematics professors instructing incoming freshmen. Through this role, I also had opportunities to teach foundational college mathematics courses such as Algebra I and Business Calculus.
During my credential program, I completed a full year of student teaching with a mentor teacher, where I taught my own Algebra I (grades 10–12) and Math Analysis classes. I was also selected as a mathematics co-teacher for CSUF’s Mathematics Initiative Summer School Program, teaching Algebra II to middle and high school students interested in pursuing STEM careers.
Across these experiences, I have worked with students from sixth grade through second-year university level, including students with varying confidence, motivation, and academic goals. I tailor my approach to each learner, beginning by understanding how they feel about mathematics and sharing my own academic journey. I emphasize the importance of making mistakes, developing a growth mindset, and building confidence both in math and in life. I guide students through problem-solving using thoughtful questions and clear explanations, and I am happy to create or adapt practice materials to target specific areas of need.
I look forward to supporting students and families seeking a patient, knowledgeable, and encouraging math tutor.
