Hello! My name is Zachary, and I graduated with honors from UNC-Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology & Neuroscience. I work full-time as a neuroscience researcher, where I study brain development in young children and adolescents. I work with these age groups on a daily basis. I have experience tutoring elementary school-aged children as young as 8 years old in the "core" areas of math, science, and reading. I have also worked with adolescents and young adults in middle school and high school in all K-12 curriculum subjects. Generally, my services involve 1-on-1 sessions with students, regular communication with parents (and teachers, per the parents' request), weekly tutor/student/parent progress meetings, etc. As a scientist who studies child brain development, I understand that each and every child is different. Prior to beginning to tutor a child, I will chat with both you and your child in order to devise a plan that is unique to your child's specific needs.
My full-time job as a researcher involves using mathematics on a daily basis. I have a strong background in basic/elementary mathematics, algebra 1 & 2, trigonometry, geometry, precalculus, and calculus. I am also experienced in statistics, general physics, and chemistry.
I graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a B.S. in Psychology & Neuroscience where I obtained a strong psychology background. My coursework history includes topics of general psychology, sensation and perception, developmental psychology, neurobiology, social psychology, etc. I have experience tutoring both high school and college-aged students in general psychology course topics.
