I was born in Izmir, Turkey, in 1990 and began my musical training under the guidance of distinguished violinists Assoc. Prof. Melek Gokustun and virtuoso Cihat Askin. After graduating from Dokuz Eylul University State Conservatory in 2011, I moved to the United States to continue my education, completing both my Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Violin Performance at the University of Minnesota. In addition to these academic achievements, I pursued formal Suzuki Pedagogy training, which allowed me to integrate child-centered and holistic approaches into my teaching.
From 2014 to 2023, I served as a faculty member at the Colburn School in Los Angeles, one of the most prestigious music institutions in the United States. In that role, I taught students of varying ages and levels, ranging from very young beginners to advanced high school musicians preparing for conservatory and professional careers. My teaching style blends the structured discipline of classical training with flexibility and creativity, encouraging each student to find their individual voice. I have taught in private, one-on-one lessons, chamber ensembles, and group classes, ensuring that I can adapt to different learning environments and needs.
Alongside my work as an educator, I have built an active performance career, giving solo, chamber, and orchestral concerts across the United States, Europe, and Asia. I have had the privilege of performing with world-renowned artists such as Andrea Bocelli and John Legend, experiences that continue to inspire my teaching. More recently, I have expanded into composition and music production, with projects that have reached millions of listeners worldwide, including features in Apple iPad commercials and Taylor Swift’s stadium tours. These diverse experiences allow me to connect with students not only through classical performance, but also through contemporary and creative avenues, preparing them to succeed in a wide range of musical settings.
