Hi! My name is Kim. I have been in education for over 10 years. There is nothing I would rather be doing than helping my students. I started my career tutoring and then becoming an adult ed. teacher. As an adult ed. teacher, I actually worked in the high school and/or in a lab helping students in their credit recovery. During this time, I was working and completing my Masters in American History.
Working in Adult Ed. sealed my passion for working with students. My students had failed their classes for a variety of reasons. Whether it was life circumstances, or just not liking school, I found joy in helping all kinds of students succeed. Unfortunately, our school had massive budget cuts so I went back to school to obtain my teaching credential. I have taught Middle School and High School, and everything from Advanced Placement to English Learners.
Teaching is not a job but a lifestyle for me, and with me you will find that History and Government is a crazy story that needs to be told. It is not facts, figures, and as one of my former students once said, "a bunch of dead people."
Why choose me as your History/Government tutor? Well, I am very educated in these subjects and have taught them all. During my Masters I was even given a grant to travel and research.
Beyond that is my experience in teaching all kinds of learners. I use humor and story telling as a main tactic to help you learn.
