My love for languages influenced me to study Linguistics and Italian during my time at San Francisco State University. I was fortunate to be able to study abroad in Italy for a year at a full-immersion university. This opportunity enabled me to gain fluency in the Italian language and live like a local. My love for languages influenced me to study Linguistics and Italian during my time at San Francisco State University. I was fortunate to be able to study abroad in Italy for a year at a full-immersion university. This opportunity enabled me to gain fluency in the Italian language and live like a local. After graduating with my BA, I returned to Italy to live with an Italian family and work as an English tutor. I have lived in both Northern and Southern Italy, have visited many parts of the country, and have a passion for the culture and language. I continue to keep my skills current through frequent contact with my Italian friends. I enjoy sharing my knowledge of this beautiful language with the students I tutor.

I decided to study Spanish over ten years ago and have picked up the language quickly due to the similarities with Italian. My love of Spanish inspired me to use the language with natives and travel abroad. I have visited Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, and lived abroad in El Salvador during the summer of 2015. I have taught Spanish in the school setting and passed the DELE (official Spanish language certification) at the advanced level (B2). I visit Latin America frequently and I am constantly refining my skills, as my husband is a native Spanish speaker.

I am a passionate language tutor and have the unique perspective of a non-native speaker who understands the process of learning a foreign language. I have much experience tutoring Italian and Spanish and can help you reach your language learning goals. I hope to have the chance to share my love of language with you!

I worked an English and Math tutor for elementary-aged students at Kumon Learning Center. I have experience being a teacher's assistant at an elementary school, co-teaching the material. I also have experience being a private tutor for elementary-aged students. I also have an active substitute teaching credential.

Italian

I studied Italian at SFSU for 3 years and then studied abroad in Pavia, Italy. All of my classes were in Italian and I quickly picked up the language, as no one spoke English in Pavia. I returned to Rome, Italy and worked as an English tutor while living with an Italian family. I continue to keep in touch with all my Italian friends I met during my time in Italy, which allows me to put my Italian to use frequently.

I started teaching myself when I realized how similar it was to Italian and how useful it would be to know this language. I passed the California Subject examination for Teachers (CSET) for the Spanish language. I also have passed the DELE (official Spanish Language certification) at an advanced level (B2). I have much experience teaching and tutoring the Spanish language, ranging from kindergarten to adults.

Elisabeth reviewed books, conversations, and games with my 7-year-old. She kept him focused for an hour which was impressive especially as he can get stressed out when he practices Spanish. He was excited to work with her more.

Elisabeth is an excellent tutor. She was able to get both my kids involved in the sessions from day 1. My kids eagerly wait for her sessions on the weekend. She is very punctual, and very honest with her time. She gives full time to the kids and makes the hours spent very worthwhile. My kids learn a great deal in her sessions. She adapts very well to teaching both my 10 year old and my 4 year old. Elisabeth prepared excellent assignments for my son based on core standards. I saw her assignments and was amazed at how much work she had put in to get all the topics for the course covered. She is awesome.
