I have had a variety of different tutoring and teaching experiences over the years. In high school, I tutored my friends in math. In college, I started as an engineering student, in clubs that taught SAT workshops as well as just mentoring middle school and high school students, encouraging them to take interest in math, science, and engineering fields. I also tutored fellow engineering students in our math classes.

When I switched my major to mathematics, I became part of a teaching fellowship for math and science called CTFMS. While completing my undergraduate degree in mathematics, I worked in middle school and high school mathematics classrooms, helping students, and teaching lessons in both algebra and geometry.

I taught math at my former high school as part of an internship program in California, teaching Algebra 1a, Algebra 1, and Geometry as well as the math portion of the academic decathlon class. I then moved to Arizona to join the TEAMS program at Arizona State University, a master's and credentialing program for students going on to teach math and science at middle schools or high schools. I have tutored students in algebra 3-4 and pre-calculus since moving to Arizona, as well as student taught 7th grade math, honors geometry, and pre-calculus.

In 2012, I took on a long term substitute position, teaching 8th grade math, algebra and geometry. In 2013 I taught 7th and 8th graders algebra and geometry.
In 2013, I was a math interventionist at a middle school teaching students that fall far below the basics, as well as a tutor at a high school working with students trying to pass the math portion of AIMS. This current year, as well as in 2014 I have taught all high school math classes in schools working with at risk youth.

I find the most common difficulty students have with mathematics is, they focus on the process of a particular problem and not necessarily the concept behind the problem. When you focus on the concepts, they can be applied to more than just the problem at hand. I try to focus m

Great Tutor!

Nicole has been working with my middle schoolers for the last several months and has been great at helping them fully understand the math curriculum they are learning in the classroom. Math is no longer "scary" to them!

Excellent-took our son from failing to above average!!!

I'm not sure what Nicole taught our son, but he "got it" once she worked with him. There was no way anyone in our family could be of assistance. Highly recommended and very professional.

Very knowledgeable and patient

Nicole worked with my High School Sophomore on Algebra with Trig. Tutor showed good knowledge of the subject and could explain the subject matter to my daughter in a way that she could understand. Very patient tutor who works well with teenagers.

A Great Experieince

Nicole was very effective in connecting with my son. She listened to where he was in his subject. She utilized a gentle approach to uncover area's where he needs the most help and then explained the topic in a few ways until he understood it enough to comfortably move onto the next topic. This approach and her recommendation to build simple flash cards to reinforce certain terminology was a great experience for my son.
