I recently graduated from UC Davis with honors and dual-majors, earning a B.S. in Evolutionary Anthropology and a B.A. in Behavioral Psychology (with a minor in Neuroscience & Physiology), and am currently saving up for medical school. I already have more than 1000 hours of experience tutoring grades 6-12 (multiple subjects at Walnut Creek Intermediate and Las Lomas High School) and undergraduate college students combined. I have a CRLA (College Reading & Learning Association) Level 1 certification through the Academic Assistance & Tutoring program at UC Davis. These hours are largely comprised of paid one-on-one tutoring, though I also taught in the tutoring centers for drop-in hours at the high school (volunteer) and college level (paid), in which I would be working with groups at a time.
My 6-12 tutoring subjects include: all levels of math, biological sciences, social sciences, literature, reading and comprehension, history, and other liberal arts. I am now qualified to tutor most AP classes offered, but I myself took (and scored 4-5 on): European history, US history, Psychology, Biology, Calculus AB/BC, English literature and composition, and US government and politics. I have directly tutored students in AP Calc, Psych, and Euro in the past. Additionally I can provide tutoring for SAT and ACT preparation (I earned a 1560 on the SAT), and have tutored two students for SAT prep so far, both of whom scored higher than 1500.
At a college level, I tutored Calculus & Advanced Calculus, Biology, Neuroscience, Psychology, Anthropology, as well as intros to Sociology and Philosophy, in addition to several others. Again, this included both private one-on-one and drop-in tutoring.
I also help students with their own success strategies going forward: note-taking, organizational skills and study strategies, and research skills, among others.
