Hello! My name is Tim, and I have a passion for demystifying math and making it accessible (and fun!) to students at all levels. I have been tutoring middle school, high school and college math for 15 years. My tutoring experience includes: Elementary Math, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, Precalculus, AP Calculus AB, and AP Calculus BC. I have helped students prepare for COOP/HSPT, PSAT, SAT Math, and ACT Math tests. I have also tutored undergraduate linear algebra.

I bring my industry background in electrical engineering and computer science to problem-solving. I benefited from excellent tutors in my past, and I understand the value of making math less intimidating and more approachable for learners.
My approach to tutoring begins with reviewing materials students provide – e.g., graded homework, exam reviews, course syllabus. This helps me understand the context and create a game plan. In the tutoring session we set modest goals and work through problems together in a non-judgmental fashion. Each session is tailored to the student’s current skill level and needs. Once a foundation is set, I slowly introduce challenge problems that help students stretch their thinking. Students I have tutored consistently score very well on homework/tests, attain top marks on AP exams, and routinely earn SAT and ACT scores in the top 3% of all test takers.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University, have pursued a graduate degree in Computer Science at Stanford University (36 units of coursework, 3.8 GPA), and earned an MBA from UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business (3.9 GPA).
Let’s work together to achieve your academic goals: better grades, higher test scores, and mastery of difficult material. I love one-on-one tutoring because I’ve seen firsthand that every student has the capacity to improve. With patience and practice, students build real confidence.
I look forward to helping you understand math! You can do this!
