Hi, I’m Torin! I’m a Brown University Honors grad with a double major in Applied Mathematics and Economics, and a Teach For America Fellow with over 8 years of experience helping students excel in Economics, Math, Physics, Test Prep, and STEM subjects.

At Brown, I served as Head Economic Student Lecturer, teaching large lectures and tutoring Micro and Macro Economics. After working as a data analyst for a proprietary energy trading firm in D.C., I returned to graduate school to study the sciences in depth. As a Teach For America Fellow, I became a full-time award-winning high school math teacher at Hollywood High School in Los Angeles, where I developed curriculum and helped students close gaps in rigorous, diverse classrooms.

Now a professional private tutor, I specialize in helping students master complex topics, raise test scores, and gain confidence in STEM and Economics subjects. Whether you're aiming for a 5 on AP Calc or Econ, pushing for top ACT/SAT math scores, or working through college-level problem sets in a challenging class, I’ll tailor our sessions to your learning style and goals.

I love working one-on-one with students and I’ll bring energy, patience, and deep subject knowledge to every session.

You got this, and together, we'll get you there!

super helpful!

The phrase “teach a man to fish” comes to mind. As someone who has never used SAS or done any kind of coding at all. He helped me not only get a general understanding of what I was doing, he also assisted with my ability to troubleshoot when I hit a snag.

Straight-forward, friendly guidance

Torin is clearly familiar with statistical concepts and has a great personality for teaching. He helped me verify an assumption for one of my statistical models as well as verifying my interpretation of my model was correct. His credentials are clearly earned.

Clear and Concise

Prior to getting tutored by Torin, I was often confused in my college calculus class and had a hard time understanding what we were learning. However, once I started tutoring lessons with him, he was able to clearly and concisely explain the concepts and show me how to solve my calculus problems. Torin's explanations are easy to understand, and if you still have questions he can answer them just as clearly. Torin is also very patient and will work with you until you can clearly understand the topic. In every tutoring lesson I had with Torin, I always felt like I had a better idea of the material I was learning in my class. Additionally, after taking lessons with him I felt a lot less confused and confident in my class. If you are ever having trouble understanding topics in your calculus class and want better explanations, I would definitely recommend getting tutored by Torin because he helped me a lot.
